The “Strategies to prevent healthcare-associated infections through hand hygiene: 2022 Update” was recently published in Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology (ICHE), as the result of a collaboration between SHEA with IDSA, APIC, AHA and Joint Commission and alongside additional organizations that provided expertise in this arena.

Similar to the previously updated compendia, this guidance document provides evidence-based “essential practices” intended for all acute care hospitals to implement and “additional approaches” to be considered in addition to the essential practices when infections are not controlled.
