This course was presented live on September 12 to NCDONA.
This presentation will outline the CDC’s recommendations for enhanced barrier precautions and discuss two key studies that led the CMS to mandate EBP be used in long term care settings. We will also briefly discuss strategies to implement enhanced barrier precautions in the long-term care environment and what you can expect that to look like in your facility.
At the end of this course the learner will be able to:
- Describe Enhanced Barrier Precautions (EBP).
- Synthesize existing evidence and be able to explain why EBP are recommended to be used in long-term care facilities.
- Integrate evidence-based principles and strategies to implement enhanced barrier precautions in the long-term care setting
