This course takes a comprehensive look at nasal decolonization as a method for reducing the risk of SSI.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to:
1. Define the national prevalence of SSI and the contribution of S. aureus as a causative pathogen
2. Identify the primary reservoir of S.aureus carriage and the prevalence of carriage among healthy individuals
3. Explain how decolonization reduces the risk of SSI
4. Identify why PVP-I antiseptic nasal decolonization is preferred to Mupirocin
