White House Antibiotic Plan Pushes Drugmakers, Hospitals to Fight Superbugs

On Friday, the White House announced a five-year, $1.2 billion plan to fight “superbugs” that includes better awareness of infections, faster tests and new drugs. Through this plan, hospitals will be pushed to better control infections such as carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE), methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and Clostridium difficile (C. diff).
